This Rich Vs Poor popular meme has made its way around facebook. But is it accurate? Could it be corrected in any way?
I saw this meme on facebook. It’s true. It doesn’t matter how much money you have, you’re still going to wind up in the same grave as the poorest of the poor.
Rich Vs Poor – What does the Bible Say?
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
– James 4:14 KJV
Life is a vapour. We’re born and then, before you know it, we get that tap on the shoulder: “Ok, time’s up”.
Consider the words of Jesus:
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
– Matthew 16:25
Rich Vs Poor – A Bible Story
See: Luke 16:19-31
The Rich man and Lazarus is a very well know Bible story that illustrates how basking in wealth, with little to no concern or care about anyone else, can deprave ones soul.
I’m not saying that every rich person is going to wind up in hell. However, I can assure you that a lot of people who “have plenty” — they have it because they’re often ruthless, inconsiderate, selfish, uncaring and are willing to step on others and/or leave them to suffer while they maintain and bask in their wealth. A lot of people who have “wealth” and “power” have sold out.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be able to afford to make your way through this life. We all need money to get by in this world. I’m just saying.. be careful not to make money your god.
There are worse fates than dying! A meme depicting that we all go to the same grave is an understatement.
